Practice: Unconscious Adult Choking
My once conscious choking victim has now gone unresponsive. I carefully laid them down on the ground. They're now safely on the ground. I put on my gloves. I have my CPR shield with the one way valve. If I have not called 911 or called a code yet, I will have done so now. You in the plaid shirt, go call 911 and come back. I might need your help. I'm going straight into compressions. 1, 2, and 3 and 4 and 5 and 6 and 7 and 8 and 9 and 10, 11, and 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30. Head tilt, chin lift. I look in the mouth for product. Can't see anything. Use my mask. Re-position the head. Nothing went in. 30 more compressions. 4 and 5 and 6 and 9 and 10 and 11, 12, and 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30. If I see an object, I'm gonna go sweep it out. Try a rescue breath. The breath went in. I give a second breath. If the patient is not responsive, not breathing normally. I'm gonna go back into my chest compressions. And I'm gonna do 30 chest compressions followed by 2 rescue breaths. And I'm gonna continue these 30 to 2 until help arrives or the person becomes responsive.
