“I am not certain what you mean by a brief testimonial but I will give it my best shot. I believe, know or do have a strong testimony or witness that the interventions used to provide First Aid do work! I have had several experiences in my life using the heimlieck maneuver where I was able to sufficiently perform the abdominal thrusts in order to dislodge the object (an aspirin or two) and watch the two white pills shoot out of the victims mouth and fly through the air across the room! If I had not followed the spiritual prompting to " go over to Laura;s house now!" (which screamed at me on the third attempt) and I finially believed and obeyed the voice/feeling/thoughts and ran across the road to find Laura standing in the kitchen near the counter with a glass of water in her hand, and a bottle of aspirin on the counter. she was motioning for me to come in and had her hands around her neck .. she could not speak or breath; I asked her "are you choking?" she shook her head "yes".I explained to her that I was trained and would help her by performing the Heimlick Maneuver on her. I stood behind her wrapped both arms around her midsection found the sternum and went down two fingers , made the fist with my two hands and firmly pressed quickly in and up , in and up, in and up, then I gave three blows to her midback and repeated the thrusts until the aspirin was dislodged. She was home alone with her new born baby and her husband Joe is/was a cherry farmer and was out shaking cherries off the trees ..it was cherry harvest and everyone was out workng in the orchards, I was home that day for some unknown reason? because usually everyday during cherry harvest I too am out working with the crew in the orchards. To me having these few simple skills are able to actually save lives! The work that first responders do is a great work and I am grateful for those who have developed these intervention techniques and that I have been taught theses life saving skills. I would counsel anyone reading this to get trained, espicially if you are a mother, a teacher, a babysitter or just a friend who cares. ”
