Summary of training video: Bag Valve Mask Demo
When breathing for a patient with a bag valve mask, assure that the airway is in an optimal position for the free flow of air. To place the mask on the patient, have the right sized face shield and use the C-E technique to draw the patient's face into the mask. Watch for chest rise and fall to assure that a proper seal has been made and air is going into the lungs. For a child or infant, provide one breath every 3 seconds. For an adult, provide one breath every 5 to 7 seconds.
